Why ChatGPT Is the Virtual Assistant Every YouTube Creator Needs
How AI helps creators save time, boost views, and monetize faster
I’ve been using YouTube since the early days of the platform, and it has changed a lot over the last 20 years. Back then, you could upload a video and start earning money immediately, as long as your video got lots of views.
Several years ago, I abandoned my YouTube page and later realized it had been deleted. That was my first deletion. I’ve since gone through two more. (It’s a long and painful story.)
When I returned to YouTube a few years ago and tried to rebuild my channel, I quickly saw how much had changed.
A New YouTube
Now, creators have to design thumbnails, write video descriptions, and work through a long process to get monetized — the goal of nearly every YouTube user. Of course, this backend work takes time. As a creator, you just want to make your video and upload it, but now you also need to optimize the title, design a thumbnail, and write a description.
This is where ChatGPT comes in. Some services, such as vidIQ, handle these tasks for a fee, but I’ve found that ChatGPT can do much of it as well. You can use ChatGPT to write video descriptions, generate the most clickable titles, and even create thumbnails by asking Sora to design one for you. This saves a tremendous amount of time.
ChatGPT to the Rescue
Matt Par, a video creator, says he makes $20,000 to $35,000 from YouTube ad revenue every month, with AI doing much of the lift, according to The New York Post. “He uses AI to come up with video ideas, write scripts, generate background videos, edit footage, come up with titles and descriptions, generate thumbnails, and even narrate the videos with an artificially generated voice,” the Post reported.
ChatGPT can also audit your YouTube channel, offer suggestions for improvement, and generate hashtags. As I said in a previous article, ChatGPT acts like a virtual assistant — saving hours of time and effort while helping creators succeed on YouTube.
